Working extremely hard for a lofty goal or big dream, welcome to the life of many. We spend our lives trying to conquer one goal and then another and then another, never looking back to celebrate what you have achieved or to just observe and appreciate the journey of each accomplishment or even each failure. I have many mottos, but one that I enjoy is 'get 1% better everyday and after a year you will be 365% better than when you started'. I have focused so much on that goal and I would get better 1% each day and sometimes more, I would forget to see what was happening right in front of me: see the people, the landscape, the beauty and growth of life in general.
In my pursuit of being a men's coach at the highest level, I have worked, studied and hustled with a lot of sweat, but with all of those achievements of successes and failures, triumphs and pain, I would not trade any of it for immediate success. Well, actually that would have been nice (lol), but all of those situations have shaped and molded me to who I am. It has built endurance, patience, and even more determination, but also, love and eyes for those around me. Getting an invite to coach in India for the next 6 months is an opportunity that I am looking forward to. I am anticipating working with all the athletes and staff members, but am also looking forward to traveling to a new country and being with people I can serve. Please know that I still have the love, determination, work ethic, passion and hustle for coaching and achieving my goals, but I am able to see the bigger picture and live my life for more than myself. Life is about relationships. When Christ was here, His main goal was to die for our sins, but He wasn't so focused on that, that He forgot about the 33 years leading up to it. He loved, taught, served and changed lives. That is where I am. I am 32 years young and am leading up to my main goal. India is an experience that I am genuinely excited about. I am prepared for the basketball, the work, and everything in between.
